Multiple processors installed in a single computer system enhance the overall performance of the system. Operations like file conversion, gaming, 3D rendering and batch operations can be executed simultaneously and speedily in a multi-processor environment. However, you might encounter a system crash that will be followed by a STOP error message while working in multi-processor environment. In such situations, the data stored in the system becomes inaccessible. To recover and restore the data from the hard drive, the user needs to restore it from the latest backup. But if the user has not maintained any backup of the inaccessible data, then he needs to recover it by using an effective Data Recovery application.

As a practical scenario, a user encounters a complete system crash while working on a Windows Vista based computer system that has multiple processors installed. After the system crash, the system shuts down and when the user attempts to restart the system, he encounters the below STOP error message:

“*** STOP: 0x00000101 (Prameter1, Prameter2, Prameter3, Prameter4)
CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT”

After the above error message appears, the data stored in the hard disk becomes inaccessible.

Cause:

The main cause of the above error message is the race condition in the system Inter Processor interrupt (IPI) mechanism in Windows Vista based computer system. A race condition in multi-processor environment mainly occurs when one process is unexpectedly and critically dependent on the sequence or timing of another process in a different processor.

Resolution:

To resolve the above STOP error and access the data stored in the hard drive, Microsoft provides the solution as a hotfix. After applying the hotfix, the user needs to restart the computer. However, if the problem is not solved even after the hotfix and the user encounters the same error message post system restart, the best possible solution should be a clean Windows reinstall. The reinstall process will erase the hard drive partition and data restoration from backup will become necessary. In such scenarios, if there is no backup available, the user needs to recover the inaccessible data by using powerful Data Recovery software. Such Data Recovery Software incorporate powerful and influential scanning algorithms to recover and restore the lost files and folders.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery meets all the benchmarks of being the best Data Recovery application. It features various drive scanning options, RAW recovery and drive imaging. It supports FAT16, FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file systems. This Data Recovery utility is compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 2003 and 2000.
